My literature class is reading The Great Gatsby. We are defining various quotes from the book.
This is my quote; It is in chapter 9.
When the phone rang that afternoon and Long Distance said Chicago was calling, I thought this would be Daisy at last. But the connection came through and it was a man's voice, very thin and far away.
"This is Slagle speaking..."
"Yes?" The name was unfamiliar.
"Hell of a note, isn't it? Get my wire?"
"There haven't been any wires."
"Young Parke's in trouble," he said " They picked him up when he handed the bonds over the counter. They got a circular from New York giving em the numbers just five minutes before. What d'you know about that, hey? You never can tell in these hick towns..."
That is my quote. I need to know what the significance of that is to the story.
If anyone can help that would be great! Thanks in advance! (:|||The significance is that Gatsby makes money illegally. His (and the big theme of the novel) American dream has been corrupted.

Is there any good, reliable way to look up ISBN numbers?
I'm looking up textbooks for school, and two books I am having problems finding. They were posted on my university's official site with the ISBN numbers, but when I enter the numbers they don't come up. One book (Child Development by Parke) does not come up in any search I do, or seems to be sold anywhere. The other book (Research Methods by McBurney) is requested in the 10th edition, but the newest edition I can find is the 8th. Any help? Thanks!

If you need it, here's the book information:
Research Methods by McBurney (ISBN:9780495602194)
Child Development by Parke (ISBN:9780697788931)|||Go to dealoz.com and enter ISBN into their search bar. They will find you different web stores that sell books you arelooking for. I tried entering one of the ISBNs that you have listed and it showed me all kinds of options.
I hope it helps!

Flooring alternative for a bathroom?
I have Parke flooring in Living/dining/Master bedroom.I have a 30 X 12 master bathroom with a Washer and Dryer in it.I want to be able to do the floor myself.Have done tile before but don't think I can handle such a big job.Has anybody ever done cork flooring. Is it easy to take care of will it last forever or at least 20+ years. Will it look good next to Parke flooring.Or any alternative that won't cost an arm and a leg but will not kill my resale value on my house.|||With the proper care the cork will last a long time. I m concerned about a possible moisture problem in a master bath, especially with a washer in it too. I think a big tile project it just what you need ..Tile will help or at least won t hurt the resale a bit in a master bath also. If you need more tile help or a question, you can e mail me thru my avatar and check my qualifications there GL|||Most anything but carpet, wood, or wood laminate would be fine. You can do peel and stick vinyl which is easy, but not really attractive.
Help! Nickname for these names?

Callie - Very cute, love it.
Hummie - Sounds a little feminine, but it's cute. Also, it's still 2 syllables, so I'd just call him Hum.
Keke - Sounds a bit feminine too, like Kiki. I think just Park sounds more masculine, like the name Mark.
Cookie - Cookie is so cute as a nickname! However, it's still the same number of syllables as Cooksey, and Cooksey already sounds a little nicknamey (which isn't a bad thing; my name is nicknamey!), so I'd end up just calling her Cook.
Belle - Lovely, wouldn't change it.

Here are 7 things you didn't know about drugs?
1. Heroin was launched as a medicine by Felix Hoffman, an employee of Bayer, only a few days after he invented aspirin. Bayer immediately applied for a trademark on the term "heroin," then began marketing the drug as a cure for morphine addiction. It was also marketed as cough syrup for children.
2. Parke-Davis, a subsidiary of Pfizer, promoted and sold cocaine. It even produced a "cocaine injection kit" complete with a syringe for shooting up. Skeptical? You can view the picture yourself by clicking www.NewsTarget.com/gallery/articles/Park鈥?br>
3. A subsidiary of Novartis, Sandoz Laboratories, introduced the world to LSD in 1938, marketing it as a psychiatric drug named Delysid. This same drug company also created saccharin, the artificial chemical sweetener.
4. Drug giant Merck pioneered the commercial manufacture of morphine from opium and was a heavy pusher and marketer of cocaine. Merck also patented MDMA (Ecstasy, the rave drug). After World War II, Merck also|||God put drugs on this earth to be used for sickness, pain, and spiritual enlightenment. Man wants to exploit drugs for the riches. This is the real problem is the government and drug companies think they should dictate price and control for something that should be available to all.|||Some of the stuff that you say about drugs is true... however most of the problems are caused by them being made illegal and "Big Pharma" had little to do with that. If any drug got on the list because of corporate America it was Pot... and was from the people that brought you nylon... not aspirin.. I do happen to agree that the "War on Drugs" is a huge wast of manpower and money and should be ended... but for different reasons... like mostly it has been a colossal failure.... I believe that Government should sell at a reasonable price (to discourage the black market) *ALL* controlled substances... with the caveat that users are fully responsible for actions while under the influence and can't sue anyone for the effects on their own bodies.... Part of the "profits" from the drug sales should be set aside for any users that become sane and chose rehab.... alcohol would also fall under this category.|||Errr no. The reason that those drugs that you mention are illegal is that they are extremely powerful drugs that are often more powerful than the people taking them - hence they become addicts. The vast majority of prescription drugs are created to help people with a condition that they had no control over and the drug allows them to lead their lives - regardless of what that entails. Without it some of them may even die.
All of the examples you have metioned are in the past when knowledge wasn't so great about the affects of these drugs or even the condition of addcition. Drug dealers on the streets couldn't give a sh*t if they kill all of their clients with the drugs they sell as long as they have their money, their gold chains, their tinted window BMWs and all the drug dependent white gilrs they can manipulate. Most people who work in corporation (a legal one) belive it or not - work for money as well. The difference is they really do give a sh*t if they kill someone - because they have to answer for it and they could be jailed for it.
I wouldn't be surprised to know that you personally take any of the drugs that you mention and well if you need that to get through life that is your problem - and it is ahuge one that no-one else can help you with. But never try to tell those who have education that any of these drugs are justifiable in any way.
One of the strongest photos I have ever seen was released by a family who lost their daughter at seventeen years old from heroin addiction. The photo was the photo that the police took when they discovered her off-blue and patchy bloated red body in a messy apratment in Portsmouth. Illegal drugs kill - that's the arguement. Who gives a sh*t about the friggin money.|||And your question is?|||Suggestions:
